Maiden voyage

The first time we left the marina on board Noxoma was truly an amazing experience for us both. We did not take her out ourselves, of course, but had the professional experience of Thomas from Leopard Catamarans to assist us and show us the ropes.

We were out for a little more than an hour, and got to raise both the main sail and the Genoa. She sailed better than expected, we did about 6.5 knots in the 12.5 knots apparent wind and about 2.5 meter swells.

It will be at least a couple of weeks until we will be able to take her out sailing again, as we are starting the after market upgrades next week. She will really be fully rigged and outfitted for sailing the globe. We expect about 4-5 weeks of work to be done, before we will move on to the boat.

While the professionals are carrying out their jobs, we will start outfitting the boat with everything from kitchen supplies, toys – like diving equipment, etc. Research has started, and we are getting to know Cape Town pretty well along the way!

BIG day for the Noxoma crew!
