Petit St Vincent is located right next to Petit Martinique, which belongs to Grenada. Most sailors skip Petit St Vincent, because it is located off the other islands belonging to St Vincent and the Grenadines, and you can’t check your boat and yourself in and out of the country there. So, we went to Union Island to check in, then sailed back South to anchor off Petit St Vincent.
However, we did find a way to get access, and that was by becoming customers. We wanted to dive in nearby Tobago Cays, and the only way to do that, was to go with a local dive guide, as it is a protected marine park. It was pricy as h… (USD 252 per person for two dives), but absolutely worth it. We had a very good occasion to treat ourselves to this experience, as the Captain had his birthday while we were there.
The island only consists of an exclusive hotel called the original name “Petit St Vincent“. Non guests can go ashore, if they are willing to pay a fee of USD 111 per person. We did not witness any fellow sailors interested in paying that during the nine days we were anchored there…
So, on March 19th, we were off to a day of splurging – first two morning dives, then lunch at the beach bar, a stroll through the resort and a four course dinner in their restaurant in the evening. When you have access to such a beautiful place, you might as well max it out!
Next to Petit St Vincent are a couple of atolls, and one of them has an umbrella on it. A favorite spot for some cool photos to be taken. We were lucky that we picked a day with noone around, as hotel guests are often dropped off to have pique nique there.
We ended up spending a total of nine days at the anchorage, and completed some boat work, hiked several times at the neighboring Petit Martinique, and got some good snorkeling and diving done from the boat and dinghy as well. A lovely spot to just chill and get on top of boat stuff without distractions from onshore activities!
