Our fourth weekend here in Cape Town, and we have started a Sunday tradition of hiking the nearby trails and peaks.
Cape Town has absolutely fantastic hikes and views, with steep cliffs diving into the ocean. Perfect for two hike loving Norwegians 😊😊
We hiked Table Mountain back in February, so this time around, we have rather focused on the other peaks surrounding the city.
The first hike took us from the our Air Bnb apartment in V&A Waterfront to Signal Hill. It is definitely an easy hike, but we had to explore how to access the hill from the water side. We ended up walking mostly in the city to find the best spot to access the path to the top. We managed to find an access point at last, but do recommend taking this hike with another starting point.
The following Sunday we again hiked with the waterfront as our starting point. We hiked Signal Hill, then followed the pathway over towards Lion’s Head. During the past week, flowers had bloomed big time, and the peak looked really beautiful covered in yellow flowers at the base.
This Sunday (July 31), we took an Uber to the Table Mountain Cable Car, and followed Taffelberg Road from there over to the start of the Devil’s Peak trail. The hike was quite challenging, especially the last 2-300 height meters. It definitely gets steeper the closer you are to the summit.
At the summit, you are awarded by a truly amazing panoramic view of the city, bay, Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and you can see as far as to Cape of Good Hope. We actually thought that the views are even more amazing than from Devil’s Peak than from Table Mountain.
