Last ski season before moving to Noxoma

There is a saying that all Norwegians are born with skis attached to their feet. It is partly true – most Norwegians learn how to ski when they are very young. We prefer snowboarding to alpine skiing ourselves, and we also like cross country skiing.

The last year before our move on to Noxoma, we live in Hemsedal, which is a fabulous ski destination centrally located in Norway – right in between Oslo and Bergen.

Before the season, we certainly thought that it would be a season filled with tons of powder riding and climbing several peaks on our split boards. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. We have never experience a winter with less snow in the mountains, and we have never rode less than we have this past season.

However, we got to enjoy the season with good friends and family – even without pristine conditions. We will keep our lodge in Hemsedal when we go sailing, in case we get a chance to go back occasionally. What a perfect combination that would be – sailing and boarding. We’ll see if it is actually doable after a few seasons sailing.

Some photos from the best day this season below – from the Western part of Norway, at Vatnahalsen for a friend’s 50th birthday celebration.
