Moving our first load of stuff to Cape Town

It was with much excitement we started planning and organizing our first move efforts to Noxoma. As we are moving from one of the northern most countries (Norway), onto a boat being delivered in one of the southern most countries (South Africa) in the world, finding the best way to ship our stuff proved to not be that straight forward.
The total distance from Oslo to Cape Town is 10,423 kms (equal to 5628 nautical miles).
We quickly realized that shipping a container was not our best choice. It is not as if we are moving house, so our clothes and diverse sailing gear do not really fill up a whole container. So, we decided to take an extra trip to Cape Town, and fly a baggage load down there five months before Noxoma is being delivered.
The trip took place in February 2022, which is mid-winter in Norway, and late summer in South Africa. It is never wrong to get some extra daylight and sun in the middle of winter 🙂
We arrived in Cape Town in the afternoon on a very hot day, and we quickly realized that we had not rented the best place for doing a move…. 3 stories up to our apartment, and no elevator 😲 And – when we unlocked the apartment, it turned out that it was yet another spiral staircase, and it was so narrow it barely fit our luggage.
At last, we got all of the luggage into the apartment, and ended the evening with a beautiful view and a nice bottle of champagne. So excited to finally be here, and get the first leg of this adventure started!!!!
